Tramadol is the latest opioid to enter the U.S. In March 1995, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the medicine as a non-schedule narcotic. On the other hand, Xanax is a branded version of the medicine Alprazolam. It is considered to be an effective benzodiazepine anxiolytic. This drug was patented in America in October 1969.

The authorities in the U.S. are concerned about the widespread misuse of Xanax due to its very addictive nature. The medication has also been classified by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency as schedule 4 drug.

The Nature of Xanax

Xanax comes below the segment of sedative-hypnotic drugs that includes alcohol and barbiturates. Sedatives are central nervous system depressants. Tramadol has been given Grade C by FDA when it comes to the effects on unborn babies. Grade C suggests there is enough proof that Tramadol can significantly harm foetuses. Xanax could affect infants during lactation and pregnancy adversely. Studies have shown that Xanax use during pregnancy could lead to congenital physical disabilities among the women. Furthermore, a similar medicine, diazepam, has also shown to cause weight loss and lethargy in kids who breastfed from mothers consuming such medicine. It is strictly not advisable for mothers to consume Xanax during lactation and pregnancy period. Remember that all CNS depressants are actually cross-tolerant with each other, meaning having a tolerance for one cause tolerance for the other.
